The Michigan Report Card arose out of the need for a comprehensive, objective way to measure the outcomes of state government and enable residents to hold their leaders accountable.
While Governor Snyder has established a dashboard, the administration itself chose what to measure –
a right and responsibility that belongs to the people.
This website enables residents to decide for themselves which measurements to use to evaluate the progress of their state government, and compiles them all in one place. It is based on similar successful initiatives in Oregon and elsewhere.
The other part of the project involves legislation to create the Michigan Progress Board. The board will oversee the Michigan Report Card, use public input to shape a 20-year strategy to rebuild our state, and create methods for evaluating success.
